Make a rough sketch of your house or ideally, print out its blueprint to serve as a useful starting point. Identify the areas you want to monitor and decide the viability of camera placement in those locations.
A few areas you may want to watch are doors (front and back), driveways, stairways, lawns, and off-street window.
Once you’ve identified the areas you want to monitor, decide on the exact location for each camera placement. The UnidenUDR744 is expandable up to 4 cameras.
Tips to Follow When Setting Up Your Surveillance System for Home Use
Always remember to watch your front and backdoors. Statistically, these are the most used points of entry.
Read all surveillance laws in your state. Check for legislation governing video monitoring, equipment usage detailing restricted locations.
Also, find out whether appropriate signage is necessary.
Always make sure your cameras point only towards your property at all times. If it is found that you are invading the privacy of your neighbors, you could be sued.
Place all cameras in strategic locations to avoid people tampering with or vandalizing.

7′ high-resolution color LCD touch screen monitor ensures a clear image inside or out, even at night.
The monitor has three main parts. The live View Area displays live video from the cameras.
The pop-out menu tab displays 4 menus that let you manage the UDR744 system. The Icon bars display on the top and bottom of the monitor screen.
Cameras Included
With the UDR744, each camera features a 40 ft night vision range and transmits up to 500 ft allowing you to safely and discreetly survey a wide perimeter -even in total darkness- with digital zoom coverage.
Night vision is accomplished with the use of small LED bulbs. These lights turn on in dark conditions and serve as a floodlight for the camera they surround without covering the entire area at night.
The UDR744 cameras included with your monitor are weatherproof and have an IP65 rating. Water can be sprayed on them and they will still work; however, the cameras cannot be submerged.
Cameras and Rain
Although the cameras can be exposed directly to the rain, if they are used outdoors, it is best if they are mounted under some type of covers like a patio overhang or eave.
As rainwater drops start to dry on the camera glass, they can create spots that will reflect the light from the infrared LED’s used for night vision, thus causing lower quality video.
Cleaning Cameras
Also, like dust, grime and cobwebs accumulate on the camera glass, they can reflect light from the infrared LED’s and might lower video quality. Periodically clean the glass with a soft cloth.

Even More User Feedback & Our Review of It
Wireless range is somewhat lacking, and a steel sided house or shop will drop reception by 20% or less.
The system provides good value for the price and is super easy to install and setup. There should be no problems due to the outdoor monitoring of cameras.
If the installer takes some time to play with camera angles and lighting, the system works perfectly within the scope of its design.
This means locate cameras at a reasonable height from the entryways and arm at a reasonable distance, at good angles.
Picture Quality
Picture clarity is good when not trying to identify an intruder from 50 yards away. If there are too many items in the viewfinder, the picture quality goes grainy.
Bushes, moving trees, flowers, and cars are grainy, however, this is not an issue since the point is capture and to be able to identify an intruder and/or anyone doing any ‘funny business’ around your home or place of business.
However, don’t expect to obtain license plate numbers. Also, do not expect to identify an intruder and potential threat from any unreasonable distance. Finally, don’t have the camera pointed downwards
