Steam mops are mops specially designed to be filled with water, as they have a mechanism capable of producing steam. This steam gets emitted from the device towards the floor as you clean your home or office.
This technology allows the mop to efficiently remove dirt that gets stuck in most types of hardwood floors.
The best thing about these mops is that they produce no chemical or toxic waste when you use them. They only produce steam, and they only require water to work properly.
In short, you basically put water in, turn the device on, and mop away. It’s a straightforward process that doesn’t threaten the health of any member of your household.

Make sure your floor is clean before sweeping it with a steam mop. Steam mops aren’t made to catch loose and large pieces of dirt – their main purpose is to remove stuck dirt from sealed floors.
The system of a Shark steam mop can be easily clogged with larger waste, so we strongly advise you to thoroughly clean your floor with a broom and a vacuum before putting your Shark steam mop to use. This will ensure the product a larger lifespan and it will produce better end results.
Attach the micro-fiber pocket included with the package to the machine. Make sure to add enough water before beginning to use it as well, otherwise the product might end up damaging itself with the heat. The tank has an indicator showing how much water you can add to it – use this as a guideline.
Plug the device into an electrical outlet. You’ll need the source to be 120 volts – get a small transformer if you don’t have the correct source of power at home. Once you plug it in, a blue light should turn on, indicating that the device is powered up and ready to be used.
Let it heat up for 30 seconds to 1 minute before using it. This will allow the steam to be properly produced. If this is the first time you use the device, make sure you let it heat up for a couple of minutes. The first time you turn it on always takes the Shark steam mop a bit longer to start up.
Start sweeping and pull the handle each time you want the mop to release steam towards the floor. You can adjust how much steam you want by doing this. Simply pull the handle each time you see fit. If you need to switch the microfiber pockets (this is done when the side you’re using gets too dirty), allow the device to rest for 5 minutes or you could injure yourself with the heat.
If you run out of water in the tank but you still haven’t finished mopping, please unplug the device from the power source before adding more water into the tank. This is a safety measure – take it seriously or you could be putting yourself under unnecessary distress.
